Structure of the Earth 3-D Model Making Kit

The structure of the Earth is easy to understand with our unique easy to make model.

Models are powerful tools for teaching science because they provide useful simplifications of structures and processes, helping to make the unseen seen and the complex simple.

First, your students build their model of the Earth out of the colouful parts. Next they use their model to look at the Earth's structure. Students can also use the model to look at how the Earth's interior can be divided by both chemical composition and physical properties.

The model covers: oceanic crust, continental crust, upper mantle, lower mantle, lithosphere, asthenosphere, outer core and inner core. Understanding the interior of our planet provides a great starting point for studying Earth Science!

The Model Making Kit includes enough materials for students to assemble up to 5 paper models working cooperatively. Using the ready-to-use materials provided with each 3-D model set, students first assemble a model to represent a structure or an entire system as an aid to develop questions and explanations. They will then generate data and observations that can be used to make predictions and communicate ideas to others.
